Christian Movie Review: The Forge
By Church News
The Forge is another Kendrick Brothers’ masterpiece that wonderfully delivers a strong message of discipleship and the Gospel woven through a life changing and modern story.
The Forge follows Isaiah Wright who has some growing up to do. A year out of high school with no plans for his future, Isaiah is challenged by his single mum and a successful businessman to start charting a better course of his life.
This is a trademark Kendrick Brothers film, a solid story with a strong and needed message about the importance of biblical discipleship, mentorship and prayer. It is well directed with polished editing and cinematography with a great soundtrack.
The story is well written, it is entertaining, it will make you laugh, and most importantly it is faith building, it isn’t afraid to share the Gospel and show how people need to be discipled and how that builds and strengthens faith.
The Forge is set in the same ‘universe’ as War Room and features some of the same characters alongside a host of new ones. It is not often you get to see what happens next after a film ends, so it is great to see what has happened to the characters from War Room. The cast is strong with lead Aspen Kennedy bringing to life Isaiah, and Cameron Arnett as Joshua, you feel their journey through the film and at times you’ll be on the edge of your seat.
Most people will be able to relate to a character from this film and what they are going through. You’ll be prompted with questions and challenges as you watch this and not only will it have you thinking about your faith and your purpose but also about how you act and conduct yourself, with great takeaways for employers and employees.
The Forge will prompt us to discover God’s purpose for our lives, it is entertaining, life changing and faith building.
