Average Joe is an inspirational film based on a true story that encourages us to stay strong in our faith.

Average Joe follows high school American football coach Joe Kennedy, who spent a childhood in foster care followed by 20 years in the Marine Corps.

That however was nothing compared to his biggest battle: his commitment to stand for God publicly by taking a knee of prayer after each game. When he was fired, Joe and his wife Denise knew this was a battle for religious freedom that they would have to fight, no matter the cost.

This is a remarkable and inspirational true story, with Eric Close and Amy Acker as Joe and Denise, who really carry the film along and wonderfully bring to life this emotional story which features romance, pain, joy, hope and faith.

The story jumps between a dramatisation of the events that Joe Kennedy went through, throughout his life and to Joe and his Wife sitting on a sofa speaking to the camera in a documentary/interview style.

Average Joe doesn’t just break the fourth wall, it completely demolishes it, for it might take some getting used to, however, it is an interesting and different way of telling the story, at times it feels odd but it doesn’t distract from the story or the message. It has a similar feel to Forrest Gump in terms of the storytelling.
