Christian Charities In London Hosts Prayer Vigil for Global Church

By Church News

Some leading Christian charities in London, UK on 19th October joined forces for a special one-day prayer vigil for the global church.

The 12-hour event at St Andrew by the Wardrobe in Blackfriars featured specially curated hour-length sessions, from Open Doors, Aid to the Church in Need, Compassion UK, Embrace the Middle East, Article 18 and more.

Henrietta Blyth, CEO of Open Doors UK and Ireland said: “Christians in the UK are vaguely aware that their own churches in the UK are part of something far bigger.

“A worldwide church doing remarkable things and facing huge challenges, often violent opposition. We know we should be praying for them, but so often we don’t know where to begin. Saturday’s vigil is the chance to discover how to pray for them, a global church making a world of difference.”

The event was a culmination of a week of prayer which started from the 12th of October and ended on the 20th October, supported by Christians in all the main political parties, along with Open Doors, 24-7 Prayer, Evangelical Alliance and many more.

Organisers say the week is “…an opportunity to pray for our leaders, our nation and the nations.”

Topics for prayer included the church in the Middle East, the violence in sub-Saharan Africa, church unity, North Korea and more.
