China Appoints New Catholic Bishop Amid Vatican Negotiations

The Vatican has confirmed the appointment of Bishop Joseph Lin Yuntuan as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Fuzhou, China.
The appointment was made under the Sino-Vatican agreement, which allows China to propose bishops with Vatican approval.
Pope Leo XIV in his speech emphasized the importance of unity in church leadership while some Catholic leaders have expressed concerns about government influence over religious affairs.
