Catholic Sisters Week 2025 Commences
By Church News
The annual Catholic Sisters Week has officially begun, running from March 8 to 14, 2025. This week-long celebration aims to honour the dedication and tireless work of women who have taken religious vows. The event encourages more women to explore religious life and acknowledges the significant contributions of Catholic sisters to society.
Throughout the week, various activities and events will take place, including Masses, Q-and-A sessions, meals, and seminars at Catholic schools and ministries. The #LikeaCatholicSister campaign is a new initiative this year, aiming to challenge outdated stereotypes and showcase the diverse and impactful ways sisters serve today.
Catholic Sisters Week was first observed in 2014 as part of Women’s History Month at St. Catherine University in Minnesota. It has since grown into an international event, raising awareness of the vital role women’s religion plays in communities around the world.
Participants are encouraged to attend or host events, send letters of thanks to Catholic sisters, donate to religious orders, and share their support on social media. This week is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the spirituality, mission, and community-building efforts of Catholic sisters, who stand with the poor, teach children, fight injustice, heal the sick, and promote peace.
