Catholic Men Organisation Marks Father’s Day Celebration
By Church News
The President of the Catholic Men Organisation (CMO) in the Church of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Kubwa, Abuja, Engr Ikechukwu Onyeachonam, has called for fathers’ recognition in Nigeria.
The theme this year, ‘Effective Management for Organisational Achievement’, was aimed at reminding fathers of their roles as leaders and defenders of the home.
Engr Onyeachonam made his remark after the Father’s Day celebration Mass, noting that fathers in Nigeria shoulder diverse responsibilities in families and society and should be celebrated.
He said that fathers are not typically accorded recognition or appreciation for their efforts despite their contributions to building society and families. Speaking with journalists, Engr Onyeachonam highlighted the importance of the Father’s Day celebration to honour and celebrate fathers who are often overlooked by society.
The celebration in the Catholic Men Organisation was in the form of fundraising to complete church projects.
According to Engr Ikechukwu Onyeachonam, celebrating fathers is a more substantial way of valuing them than waiting for society or families to acknowledge them.
While commenting on fathers’ struggles and hard times, the CMO President encouraged fathers to continue persevering by putting their trust in God and St Joseph, their patron saint. By continually praying and presenting their problems to God, they can be confident that the good Lord will honour them and bounce back.
Mr Francis Bobai, the Chairman of the 2023 Father’s Day Celebration at Church of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Kubwa, also added that the celebration called for fathers to renew their sense of responsibility as heads of the home.
