CAN Condemns Ini Edo’s A Very Dirty Christmas as Offensive to Faith

By Church News

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has strongly criticized Nollywood actress Ini Edo over the title of her new film, “A Very Dirty Christmas.”

In a statement issued Wednesday, CAN President Daniel Okoh described the title as “offensive and disrespectful to the Christian faith.”

CAN argued that the word “dirty” undermines the spiritual significance of Christmas, which commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ.

The association emphasized that Christmas symbolizes purity, peace, love, and redemption, and linking it with “dirty” reduces the sacred season to something crude and sensational.

CAN urged Nollywood stakeholders, including the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), to discourage the use of religious themes in ways that could offend faith communities.
