To overcome implications and become knowledgeable about practices of maternal health care, Christ Apostolic Church, Akilling region has held its first seminar for midwives in the region. The seminar is themed “The Implication of Safety Education on Knowledge and Practice of Maternal Health Care among Midwives in Christ Apostolic Church” from Genesis 38:27-30.The midwives seminar, aimed at improving the knowledge of maternal health issues by correctly describing and analyzing maternal health issues, and improving maternal health care and practices among midwives, was declared open by the coordinator of the Akilling Region Faith Home Department and Superintendent, Kingdom Zone, Pastor J.A. Akinleye. In his welcome address, the Akilling Regional Superintendent, Pastor E.A. Olusoko, emphasized transforming midwives and helping them display professionalism and skills with knowledge.Showing appreciation to God, as well as the Coordinator, guest Speaker and the entire congregation for making up another powerful seminar, Pastor Olusoko welcomed everyone to the training. The guest speaker, Dr Mrs P.O. Ogunmola said, the theme explains it all, explaining that, “it is important that you show evidence of improved knowledge of mother-child HIV transmission by stating ways of preventing this transmission hence, a midwife must be very careful and sensitive to every detail during delivery and check-ups.”Describing midwifery as a calling into God’s service, a ministry of mother and child, before childbirth and after, Dr Ogunmola added that safety education and practice of maternal care with the Church Authority and government authorities, cooperation with your Church faith home committee rules, are necessary keys. She noted that there’s a need for rapid initial assessment and emergency management, meaning that midwives must be ready to respond to emergencies at all times.Dr Ogunmola explained to the midwives about being alert to care and refer diseases and complications during childbirth, because according to her, “there are situations you can’t handle alone, signs of satisfactory or unsatisfactory progress at the first stage of labour, basic care during second stage and assisting normal delivery, if anything goes beyond this, it is expected to refer to a safer place ( government hospital).”ALSO READ: Kevin Quinn Performs On ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’
