Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Launches Fund to Defend Religious Freedom

By Church News

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) has announced the creation of the Billy Graham Defense Fund, a new initiative aimed at supporting Christians in the United Kingdom who face legal or policy challenges when expressing their faith.

The fund was born out of a series of legal battles dating back to 2020, when Franklin Graham’s evangelistic tour across eight UK cities faced widespread opposition. Seven venues canceled events despite signed contracts, prompting BGEA to pursue legal action. Courts ultimately ruled in favor of the ministry, awarding £500,000 in compensation.

“We’re going to use these funds that came from this battle against cancel culture to help other Christians who may be threatened into silence,” said Franklin Graham, president of BGEA. “This is a victory, not just for us, but for all Christians and churches across the UK”.
