His Grace, Most Revd. Alexander Ibezim, Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and an Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, has donated gift items to retired clergymen and orphanages to mark his 60th birthday.Director, Media, and Communications, Diocese of Awka and Province of the Niger, Emeka Odogwu in a statement said the Archbishop visited Catholic Priests’ Welfare Home and Aquinas Catholic Church, Awka to deliver the items.He also donated a bag of rice and cash to retired Anglican Priests Emmaus House, Awka, for devoting their lives to the service of God and the Church.Odogwu also disclosed that Ibezim and his wife, Martha Chioma, visited Faith Community Children’s Home, Awka, where he donated food items and writing materials to support the managers in training the children.According to him, Ibezim said the gesture is in the spirit of ecumenism and to celebrate his old colleagues who are no longer in active service.Odogwu said Most Revd. Paulinus Ezeokafor, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, received the food items on behalf of the old Catholic Priests.The manager of Faith Community Children’s Home, Ifeoma Agu in appreciation thanked the Archbishop for the gifts to the orphanage.Also as part of the activities to herald his 60th birthday celebration, the Archbishop performed the turning of sod and consecration of land for the construction of a Multi-purpose Hall at the St. Paul’s University Secondary School, Nibo-Nise in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.Archbishop Ibezim noted that the school was his place of birth, and told a story of how he nearly died there as a child after swallowing a cover of a feeding bottle, but was saved by the grace of God, as he was bicycle-ridden to Adazi-Nnukwu where he was miraculously rescued amidst heavy bleeding.He further testified of other great things God did for him from childhood to adulthood, which he said are also parts of the reasons for the proposed construction of the Multi-Purpose Hall, to the glory of God and in recognition of his place of birth.ALSO READ Student Brings Baby Found In A Dumpster Home, Changes His Life Forever
