Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo drew widespread attention after he was seen praying pitchside with a pastor before his team’s Premier League match against Arsenal.
The 25-year-old Ghanaian striker, who recently celebrated his 100th Premier League appearance, stood calmly as Pastor Jon Thompson placed a hand on his chest and offered prayers moments before kickoff.
The brief exchange was captured on video and quickly went viral across social media platforms.
Semenyo, who was recently baptised on Bournemouth beach, has openly credited his Christian faith for guiding his career and mindset.
In a New Year’s post, he thanked God for “protection, blessings, and work” over his life, adding, “2026 let’s get it!”.
His public embrace of faith places him among other Premier League players such as Gabriel Jesus and Eberechi Eze, who also openly share their Christian beliefs.
