Aaron Smith Talks On Evangelism

By Marie

Aaron Smith talked about evangelism and mentioned that it looked like slowing down and loving our neighbour. The founder of Handlebar Podcast, Aaron Smith, discussed what evangelism looked like in one of his podcast episodes. He mentioned that he had stopped evangelising people and started focusing on loving them instead. For him, there was a significant difference between the two approaches. When he would evangelise people, questions would arise in his mind about whether he got it right or wrong, gave them good theology, or shared everything he needed to.He then referenced what Jesus said to the Pharisees when asked about the greatest commandment. Jesus emphasised loving the Lord with all your heart, mind, and soul. Aaron highlighted that the second commandment was about loving your neighbour, not evangelizing them.Furthermore, he elaborated, “I think oftentimes, I look more like Jesus to people when I don’t tell them the gospel. I’m just kind. And I go out of my way to see them and really just loving on people. And I have found from loving on people there’s normally a door that I couldn’t have created myself. That happens where I’m just talking about the Lord, and I’m talking about Jesus.” He also emphasized that the kindness he showed to people opened up their hearts to receive what he had to say. Also Read: Ararat Baptist Church Celebrates 200 Years With 200 Songs
