Topic: Love: Foundation For A Healthy Family Relationship (Part 1)One of the greatest blessings of building on the right foundation is that it gives you lasting happiness, peace and fulfilment; one that money cannot buy. This is why I shall be sharing with you the topic: Love: Foundation for a healthy family relationship. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a: Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth, not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth…This passage of the Bible has clearly defined what love is and what love is not. Love should be expressed but way beyond it being expressed it should be demonstrated by your actions. What is love? The Advanced Learners Dictionary defines love as warm liking or affection. It is also described as an affectionate devotion. Love is a major requirement for a healthy family relationship. It is the major material required in building and transforming your house into a home. Someone said, “Love is what makes the house a home.”God is Love and His utmost desire is that our homes are heaven on earth. Love is the foundation for a healthy family relationship. The Bible says “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do”? (Psalm 11:3)A Family represents a group of people who are related to each other, such as the mother, the father, and their children or other persons who might not be related by blood. A family share emotional bonds, common values, goals and responsibilities. Family members contribute significantly to the well-being of each other.Every member of the family has his or her unique love role/responsibility to play in building the family. The Understanding of every member of the family’s responsibility is very vital in ensuring a healthy family relationship. Most of the time conflict arises at home when responsibility is pushed from one person to the other. The Bible says: Through wisdom is a house built; and by understanding it is established (Proverb 24:3).Every individual member of the family is involved in building a healthy family relationship and must locate their individual roles. However, true love can’t be expressed without knowing the origin of love. God, Himself is love. A man once said, “Any man who doesn’t love God can’t know how to live right”.Love responsibility is the master key to a healthy marriage. Love is the instrument a man uses to make his wife a glorious woman, without spot or wrinkle. While submission for a woman is characterised by love. The world has the notation that love is not enough in marriage, there are other things that must be in place to make the marriage work properly, but the truth is, love is the foundation of all other things you might be expecting. The Bible says: And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing (1 Corinthians 13:3). Everything works by love, including your marriage.Once a man loves his wife as God loves the Church and a woman submits to her husband in love, then the devil cannot gain access to their home. Love is the summary of God’s covenant obligation for man. However, no man has the capacity to love someone else without first loving God genuinely from the heart and you can’t claim to love God without accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, and becoming His child. Jesus is the expression of God’s love for humanity. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.ALSO READ The Daily Fountain Devotional of the Church Of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) – On This Rock, I Will Build My Church
