Additional Lessons from the Film “Jesus in Athens”
By Bede
We were able to establish some lessons from the previous review of the film Jesus in Athens if you missed that, read here.
We want to explore more of these lessons. So, let’s go further.
Deliverance of children from prostitution
A non-profit Christian ministry for minors – Faros was instituted in the course of the crisis in Athens. It aims at assisting solitary refugee children and youth who are exposed to prostitution
The host of the film, Darren Carlson says: “Outside the centre, Greekmen wait for the young boys offering to pay them for sex.Like this sodomites of old who wish to mistreat travelers, they went outside the house, targeting the boys for rape. Many of these minors have been living on the streets prostituting themselves to make money.
A better life waits for the children inside the fence. As much as 50 children come daily for classes and food at Faros. There is sufficient bed for up to 22 minors.
“These boys are alone because their families have died along the journey or they were sent ahead by themselves” says Carlson.
Muslims played vital roles
The film “Jesus in Athens” gives account of many baffling miracles and events. This was what led some of the Muslims to Christ during the crisis.
Carlson gives an account where there was a boat filled with Muslims travelling from Turkey to Greece. At night the young daughter of an Iraqi family tipped over into the turbulent waters full.
Consequently, they screamed and offered prayers to God to come to their aid as they couldn’t locate her. Few minutes later, her family could see her sitting on the other end of the boat. When they asked her what had happened, she replied: “Over and over, a man in white walked on water. He grabbed my hand and put me on the boat.”
In the meantime, a missionary on the Greek shore had lighted the fire to keep the incoming migrants warm.
He received insight that God was asking him to share the story about Jesus walking on the water. The Iraqi family and their daughter were among the listeners to the Missionary’s story.
On hearing the story, they began weeping and said: “Can you give us the book you are reading? We want to know the man who walks on water.”
To God be all the glory who turns tribulations to avenue for salvation.
