70th Anniversary: RCCG Set For Jubilee Walk

As part of the programmes to celebrate its 70th anniversary, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is set to embark on a prayer walk tagged ‘Jubilee Walk’.This is billed to be one of the highlights of RCCG’s unique Convention with the theme, ‘Perfect Jubilee’, a sensitization and prayer programme that would hold simultaneously worldwide on July 31, 2022.The ‘Jubilee Walk’ is part of the activities leading to the glamorous celebration of the 70th anniversary of the church  for the faithfulness of God who has shown the church immeasurable mercy and grace over its 70 years of its existence.The convention  will hold at the Church’s expansive Redemption Camp at KM 46, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, between Monday, August 8 and Sunday, August 14, 2022.The convention, as usual, would be led by Pastor E. A. Adeboye, assisted by other ministers of God.The programme would also be evangelistic in nature as many would be invited to join the RCCG in celebrating God who took the 12-member church 70 years ago in Ebute Meta, Lagos to over 193 countries of the world.The RCCG was founded in 1952 by Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi (1909–1980) and he chose Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye as the next General overseer.Andrew Rice, writing in The New York Times, calls the RCCG “one of Africa’s most vigorously expansionary religious movements, a homegrown Pentecostal denomination that is crusading to become a global faith”. The church’s leaders preach that in the future “In every household, there will be at least one member of Redeemed Christian Church of God in the whole world.”In 2008, it had 14,000 churches and 5 million members in Nigeria, in 80 countries.The international church is structured in different areas throughout the world. The local churches are now grouped into regions, with more than 25 Regions in Nigeria. It is also organised throughout most of the world. Notable special spiritual programs are the Holy Ghost Service which holds on the first Friday of every month in Nigeria.
